“Project Volunteer Online China 2.0" uses on-line video to provide sustainable accompanying education for marginal children in poverty-stricken areas. SC hopes that through “New Dream, New Future——SC On-line Classroom” , the children in remote mountainous areas can overcome the barriers of distance, feel the "outside world", learn more knowledge and broaden their horizons, so as to realize their dreams, better return to their hometown and society.

“SC On-line Classroom” Project was officially launched in August 2019. The first “New Dream, New Future——SC On-line Classroom” is located in Jinshan Village Primary School, Wenfeng Township, Tongjiang County, Sichuan Province. After one year, the second SC On-line Classroom located in Zhaoying Four Village Primary School, Guying town, Lankao County, Henan Province has been successfully opened.

School Situation: the school is located in the center of Four Village in Guying Town which has a population of 3600. Income mainly depends on migrant workers and the age is balanced. You can get to Lankao by High-speed train from Shanghai and to school within 45 minutes by taxi. 

Faculty: the primary school was founded in 1962 with a campus area of 3600 square meters and a building area of 1500 square meters. There are 131 students from grade one to grade six, 31 attached classes and 15 teachers. Courses offered: Chinese, Mathematics, English, Ideology and Morality, P.E., Music, Art and Safety. The education quality is medium. 

Visit Summary: there is few computerized teaching equipment. The school has the suitable size of students, many young teachers, and the school is clean and tidy.

The SC On-line Classroom will provide Art class, Lego class, Picture Book class and Science class for students in Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4. All courses will be taught by volunteers. The first Picture Book class was taught by Teacher Chen. The students are a little shy and embarrassed to speak out loud. With the advancement of the course and the increase of teachers and students' familiarity, higher students' participation can be expected.

After the first class, Principal Zhang commented: "the interesting online course optimizes the rural education resources, enriches the rural education curriculum, and expands the vision of rural children." Principal Zhang's words are an affirmation of “Project Volunteer Online China 2.0” and SC. In the future, we will continue to make our due contribution to educational charity course.

“Project Volunteer Online China 2.0" Introduction

Exploration: “Project Volunteer Online China 2.0" was founded in 2014, whose purpose is to use Internet technology to provide distance on-line teaching for rural primary schools in China, to help change the current situation of the shortage of local teachers, and to provide possible solutions for the imbalance of educational resources among regions.

Accompany: by the end of 2019, 48 on-line classrooms had been set up by “Project Volunteer Online China 2.0". It set up and transformed on-line classrooms in 36 rural primary schools (teaching sites), distributed in Anhui Province, Henan Province, Hunan Province, Guangdong Province, Guangxi Autonomous Region, Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province, Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province and Qinghai Province.

Grow-up: the project has been recognized and supported by Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation and Shanghai Lianquan Public Welfare Foundation, and a special fund was established by Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation in May 2017.
